The 685 was certified on September 17, 1971 per CAR 3. The 685 has a gross weight of 9000 pounds and is basically the same as the 690 with the following exceptions: Continental engines GTSIO520-K, Slight change in wing structure at the engine attach area, the picture window was divided into two individual windows in the pressure cabin and structural changes to the fuselage. The 685 was the final iteration of piston powered Twin Commander designs.
